Lancaster University's main campus is at Bailrigg, which is about three miles outside the city center and on the outskirts of Lancaster. To qualify for this prize, you must meet slightly more stringent standards than those required for guaranteed admission and choose Lancaster as your first option. Your offer letter will detail the specific requirements for receiving a scholarship. If your offer is unconditional, it will be made clear whether or not the offer includes a scholarship when it is made.

The Library at Lancaster University

The Ruskin Library is located on the Lancaster University campus, just south of Lancaster. The Ruskin Library has a reading room and an archive for individuals studying the collection. In addition, the library has a gallery that is open to the public seven days a week and displays a selection of works from the collection. The award-winning structure, designed by Sir Richard Mac Cormack (of MJP Architects) and funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund, was built specifically to hold the collection and was officially opened by HRH Prince Charles. The collection has a remarkable mix of images, books, papers, and manuscripts linked to John Ruskin, the famous Victorian writer, and artist.

An archive of transcripts, essays, and newspaper cuttings is supplemented with a complete collection of books about Ruskin, ranging from contemporary criticism to modern academic works (which the Foundation is adding to). Every facet of his diverse interests is represented, from religion and the arts to politics, economics, geology, and the environment. Self-service photocopiers, video and audio playback, microfilm equipment, and specialized equipment for readers with visual impairments are also available in the library.
